[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] ICK announced on the 28th that its affiliate Ant&B's Selfie service has obtained Level 3 (L3) payment certification from the global company TSYS.
TSYS is a U.S. payment processing company with over 1,300 financial institutions and more than 3.5 million merchants across over 100 countries. In 2020, it merged with the payment technology company Global Payments. It handles global payment agency services primarily for North American banks. As of the closing price on the 27th, Global Payments' market capitalization reached $33.464 billion (approximately 43 trillion KRW).
Selfie is a Tap to Pay solution that enables payments without a card terminal. Last year, it obtained certification from Fiserv and signed a contract for commercialization. With TSYS certification, it is now possible to prove Tap to Pay technology and expand into overseas markets.
Overseas credit card companies have switched to contactless credit cards. Apple has also officially announced its entry into the Tap to Pay business, and market growth is expected to accelerate.
An ICK representative said, "We will strengthen physical and financial cooperation with Selfie and strive to expand the domestic and global payment markets," adding, "We will also secure investment funds through convertible bond issuance and third-party allotment capital increase."
They continued, "Through the change of the largest shareholder, we will work to preoccupy the overseas payment market and enhance corporate value and shareholder value."
ICK announced on the 23rd that it will raise about 20 billion KRW through convertible bond issuance and third-party allotment capital increase. It also announced that the largest shareholders will change to Fuse Sense Co., Ltd. and two others.
