[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam National University Hospital (Director Ahn Young-geun) announced on the 28th that it held the 2nd prevention campaign to establish a child abuse reporting and support system.
Organized by the Public Health Medical Project Office of Jeonnam National University Hospital, this recent campaign was designed to raise awareness of the seriousness of child abuse and to increase local residents' interest so that prevention of child abuse, prompt measures for abused children, and reporting can be carried out.
The campaign was held at Building 1 of Jeonnam National University Hospital and Jeonnam National University Children's Hospital, with about 20 participants including hospital officials, the Public Health Medical Project Office, Gwangju Buk-gu Office Child Welfare Division, and Bitgoeul Child Protection Agency.
This campaign, the second of the year, explained the types of child abuse and how to report when discovered to about 500 medical staff, guardians, and visitors.
In addition, promotional materials such as child abuse prevention leaflets, dust bags for children, insect repellent bracelets, and hand sanitizing tissues were distributed.
Director Ahn Young-geun said, “Active interest from local residents in child abuse is necessary,” and added, “We will continue to make efforts to improve awareness and provide information on child abuse, where prompt intervention and protection of abused children are priorities.”
Meanwhile, Jeonnam National University Hospital signed a business agreement in 2018 with Gwangju Dongbu Police Station, Chosun University Hospital, and Bitgoeul Child Protection Agency to protect abused children. Since then, it has been performing rapid reporting and emergency protection of abused children, professional medical counseling, and advisory roles. If child abuse is suspected, it can be reported by calling Child Protection Call 112.
