[Asia Economy Reporter Myunghwan Lee] Koscom is embarking on establishing a roadmap for building an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management system through consulting with specialized institutions.
On the 29th, Koscom announced that it plans to receive ESG consulting from leading domestic and international accounting firms. With the inauguration of the new government and ESG-related matters included in the 110 national agenda tasks, interest and importance in ESG management are growing, and this move aims to maximize the effectiveness of ESG management.
To this end, Koscom explained that before establishing its own ESG management system, it will proactively adopt ESG through experts. Koscom plans to select a firm through a fair competitive bidding process next month. During the selection process, special attention will be paid to whether the firm has a systematic ESG project methodology and a diverse range of ESG consulting references in the financial and capital markets sectors.
After selecting the firm, Koscom plans to receive full-scale detailed ESG consulting, including ESG status diagnosis and strategic system establishment. Additionally, it will internally form a separate consulting response team to accelerate ESG management.
Hyungwoo Kwon, Executive Director of Koscom, said, "ESG has become a core element of corporate management both domestically and internationally," adding, "In line with this, Koscom plans to make ESG management a key strategic task this year and drive it forward."
