Information Culture Merit Medal Awarded to Jeong Chogeun, President of the Ansan Branch of the Disabled Informatization Association
Minister Lee Jong-ho of the Ministry of Science and ICT is delivering a welcome speech at the 35th Information Culture Month Commemoration Ceremony on the 28th at the 'Nodeul Island Multipurpose Hall Forest' in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 28th that it held the 35th Information Culture Month Commemoration Ceremony at the 'Nodeul Island Multipurpose Hall Forest' in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
The ceremony was held under the theme "A World Together Created by Digital Technology!" and government awards were presented to those who contributed to the promotion and spread of a healthy information culture.
The Information Culture Merit Medal (Order of Civil Merit, Dongbaekjang) was awarded to Jeong Cho-geun, head of the Ansan branch of the Disabled Informatization Association. Despite suffering from a rare incurable muscular disease, Jeong has contributed for over 30 years to enhancing the rights of people with disabilities, bridging the information gap, and supporting digital lifelong education.
The Information Culture Merit Decoration (Geunjeong Medal) was awarded to Professor Byeon Sun-yong of Seoul National University of Education, who contributed to the activation of academic and social discourse on robot ethics and led research on the development of various artificial intelligence ethics guidelines.
Minister Lee Jong-ho of the Ministry of Science and ICT is awarding the Information Culture Merit Medal (Order of Civil Merit, Dongbaek Medal) to Jeong Cho-geun, President of the Gyeonggi Ansan Branch of the Korea Disabled Information Technology Association, at the '35th Information Culture Month Ceremony' on the 28th.
The Presidential Citation (6 awards) was given to four individuals including Lee In-gu, CEO of EQ4ALL, who contributed to the production of sign language guidance and education services for the hearing impaired using intelligent information technology and the expansion of digital inclusion; Professor Jeong Pil-woon of Korea National University of Education; Visiting Professor Moon Hyun-joo of Chungbuk National University SW-Centered University Project Group; and Team Leader Andong-han of the Korea Blind Union, as well as two organizations: Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeongbuk ICT Convergence Industry Promotion Association.
The Prime Minister's Citation (7 awards) was presented to five individuals including Shin Jun-young, CEO of CareU Co., Ltd.; Professor Choi Eun-jung of Seoul Women's University; Teacher Park Jun-woo of Daegu Posan Elementary School; YTN Radio PD Kim Hye-min; and Team Leader Lee Young-joo of the National Information Society Agency, as well as two organizations: Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, and the Chungnam Smart Care Center.
About 80 people attended the ceremony, including Minister of Science and ICT Lee Jong-ho, Vice Chairman of the Korea Communications Commission Ahn Hyung-hwan, information culture merit awardees, and representatives of digital inclusion companies.
Minister Lee Jong-ho said, "We will strive to realize a world together created by digital technology by supporting the enhancement of digital capabilities for all citizens, improving digital accessibility, developing technologies and expanding services for the elderly and people with disabilities, and improving systems to establish digital universal rights."
