[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Samsung C&T Resort division Everland announced on the 28th that it will issue a non-fungible token (NFT) of 'BamBamMan,' the main character of the summer festival 'Summer Water Fun.' NFT refers to a digital certificate that applies blockchain technology, which makes digital files tamper-proof, to authenticate genuine items and grant ownership. It started in the art field and has recently expanded across various industries.

Everland announced that it will issue BamBamMan NFTs for four days from the 2nd to the 5th of next month. These NFTs are works expressing the cute main villain BamBamMan of the Summer Water Fun festival in various styles, with a total of 8 types and 240 pieces sold on a first-come, first-served basis. In March, Everland set a record by issuing 11 types and 330 tulip NFTs to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Tulip Festival, the first in domestic theme parks, which sold out in 15 seconds every day.

The BamBamMan to be issued this time is the top villain of BamBam Planet, shaped like a bomb, with a story that "he came to blow up the Earth but repeatedly fails due to water gun attacks from Earth kids." BamBamMan NFTs will be sold sequentially from the 2nd to the 5th of next month on 'Klip Drops,' a digital art and NFT distribution service provided by Ground X, a Kakao affiliate.

BamBamMan NFTs were created by Everland’s in-house designers and emerging external artists. Notably, artist Choo Mirim from the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, famous for pixel art, artist Kim Heohaeng who expresses various emotions in oil paintings, and artist Lee Haegang, who participated with distinctive animation works, reinterpreted BamBamMan from new perspectives.

Everland has also prepared various events for customers who purchase BamBamMan NFTs. First, among the buyers, a lottery will be held to award NFT art frames signed by artists Choo Mirim, Kim Heohaeng, and Lee Haegang. Next month, the top three customers holding the most NFTs issued by Everland will receive Safari Special Tour tickets, and in August, all customers holding Everland NFTs will receive Amazon Express Q-Pass and beverages respectively.

An Everland official said, "We planned NFT issuance and metaverse opening to digitally expand Everland’s worldview and provide new customer experiences while connecting online and offline customer experiences." He added, "We will continue to develop and present digilog (a combination of digital and analog) content linking the digital world and the park to customers."
