[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The National Library for Children and Young Adults is releasing a video of a "Cultural Performance with a Story" on its website and YouTube channel to commemorate its 16th anniversary.
The video is based on the fairy tale "The Scary Toad," introduced by Sofa Bang Jeong-hwan in the 1926 magazine "Eorini" (Children). It features humorous illustrations and vivid dubbing.
The story begins at a government office managing royal tombs during the Joseon Dynasty, where a ritual vessel goes missing. The protagonist, Neung Chambong, is distressed and falls ill after failing to find the culprit who took the vessel, but ultimately discovers the thief through a clever idea.
A library official stated, "The process of Neung Chambong finding the vessel thief is interesting, but what is truly beautiful is how he shows consideration for his colleagues even though the vessel was stolen." They added, "We hope children who watch this story will learn how to harmoniously resolve conflicts or disputes with their friends."
