[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 28th that, in collaboration with Naver, starting from the 1st of next month, a service will be provided on the Naver Map app that allows users to search for destinations and book train tickets all at once.
Until now, the Naver Map app did not have a KORAIL train booking function, so users had to separately access the KORAIL mobile app or website after searching for the optimal route, which was inconvenient. Going forward, when searching for directions on the Naver Map app, if there is a route using KORAIL trains, users will be able to book tickets all at once. After searching for a destination and checking the recommended route and train information, users can conveniently purchase train tickets by clicking the booking button displayed together, without needing to access a separate website or install another app.
Starting from the 30th, train delay times can also be checked in advance. When booking tickets or checking train departure times on KORAIL Talk, delay times will be displayed together, enhancing convenience for railway users and eliminating the need to wait long hours at train stations for their trains.
In cases of sudden train operation suspensions or delays due to natural disasters or other reasons, users can more easily check the status on KORAIL Talk, and customers currently on the train will be provided with estimated arrival times to their destinations.
During the peak summer vacation period, a luggage delivery service will be provided at four major railway stations nationwide, including Busan Station, where major tourist destinations are located, so that train passengers can enjoy a comfortable trip without having to carry heavy travel bags.
If luggage is entrusted at the luggage delivery service center located inside the railway station, heavy travel bags and other items will be delivered to accommodations by the evening of the same day, allowing travelers to be free from luggage stress and focus solely on their trip with light hands.
The luggage delivery service will finalize specific service procedures such as reception, storage, transportation, and fees through consultations with local governments in charge of the railway stations, and will be announced later on KORAIL Talk and the website. Depending on the results of the pilot operation, the service will be expanded to other railway stations.
Kang Hee-up, Director of the Railway Bureau at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, said, "We will do our best to actively discover user-centered railway services that enhance the convenience of citizens' lives and provide railway services that the public can truly feel."
