[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] On the 28th, Park Hong-geun, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized Kwon Seong-dong, floor leader of the People Power Party, for leaving the National Assembly to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Philippine president as a special envoy before the National Assembly's organization negotiations were even held. He said it meant giving up on dialogue itself.
At the Democratic Party floor strategy meeting held at the National Assembly, Floor Leader Park said, "In this emergency situation, the ruling party floor leader boards a plane to the Philippines while the president is at NATO," and pointed out that it was "an irresponsible manipulation of negotiations that gave up on dialogue itself."
He added, "No matter how amateurish the government is, and no matter how much the ruling party cannot shed its opposition party image, this is excessively out of line to the point that they cannot keep their mouths shut," and criticized, "Livelihood and cooperation have been pushed far behind in the priority list."
Floor Leader Park lamented, "It has been almost two months since the launch, yet the Yoon Seok-yeol administration and the ruling party are unable to grasp the direction of state affairs and are caught up in ultra-short-term state management every day, making their future extremely precarious."
Regarding the organization of the National Assembly, he stated, "This afternoon, the Democratic Party will submit a request to convene the July extraordinary session and will strive to normalize the National Assembly," and added, "Until June, we will sincerely engage in persuasion and negotiations with the ruling party. Meanwhile, we await the ruling party's proposal of a progressive concession." He continued, "This is not the time to talk about legislative unilateralism whenever they open their mouths."
