Hyundai Mobis Regains 6th Place Among Global Auto Parts Suppliers

Narrowing the Gap Significantly with 5th Place 'Aishin'

Hyundai Mobis Regains 6th Place Among Global Auto Parts Suppliers

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Despite the global logistics environment changes triggered by the semiconductor supply shortage and COVID-19 last year, Hyundai Mobis performed well and reclaimed the 6th position in the global automotive parts industry rankings after five years.

On the 28th, Hyundai Mobis announced that it ranked 6th in the list of the top 100 parts suppliers published by the global automotive media Automotive News.

Automotive News announces the global parts supplier rankings based on the previous year's sales to automakers by global parts companies, which is regarded as a measure of the competitiveness of parts suppliers. In this ranking survey, Hyundai Mobis recorded $29.1 billion in sales to automakers last year.

Hyundai Mobis had remained in 7th place in the industry rankings for five years since 2017, following European, North American, and Japanese companies, but last year, global orders rapidly increased centered on electrification and core components, leading to a one-step rise this year. Accordingly, since first entering the top 10 in 2011, it has been selected as one of the top 10 parts suppliers for 12 consecutive years.

This year, a total of 10 domestic companies, including Hyundai Mobis, ranked in the top 100 parts suppliers, all of which improved their rankings. Hyundai Transys rose from 34th to 32nd, Hyundai Wia from 38th to 36th, and Hanon Systems from 39th to 37th. Other domestic companies include Mando (50th → 48th) and Hyundai Kefico (89th → 87th), while SK On newly entered the list at 68th. By region, parts suppliers from Europe (29 companies), North America (26 companies), Japan (22 companies), and China (10 companies) formed the top 100.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Mobis has steadily maintained a top position since first entering the global parts supplier top 10 in 2011. The sales gap with 5th place Japanese company Aisin is only $4.4 billion, bringing it close to the mid-to-long-term goal of being in the ‘global top 5.’
