The installation of a hazard sculpture at the 16th hole to support the bid for the 2030 Busan World Expo.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Dooyul] Busan City is actively promoting the bid for the 2030 Busan World Expo at the KPGA Korean Tour Asiad Country Club (Asiad CC) Busan Open Tournament.
The city and Asiad CC plan to create an Expo promotion zone throughout all event venues of the tournament, including the field, clubhouse, and restaurant, to raise nationwide enthusiasm and spread the atmosphere for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid.
At the gallery stands of the Asiad CC Busan Open, comprehensive promotions will be conducted using fences, photo walls, interview backdrops, and admission tickets, all expressing hopes for the Expo bid.
Since the entire tournament will be broadcast on the golf-specialized channel ‘JTBC Golf,’ the plan is to spread the passion and excitement for the Expo bid nationwide, establishing a broad public support base.
An Expo hazard sculpture will be installed around the 16th hole, which is the most frequently shown on the broadcast screen, and the 2030 Busan World Expo will be promoted using tee marks and hole flags.
The KPGA Korean Tour ‘Asiad CC Busan Open’ tournament will be held over four days from the 30th to July 3rd, with a total of 144 KPGA tour professionals competing in a 72-hole stroke play format.
The stroke play format is a common golf competition method where the scores of all holes played during the round are added, and the player with the lowest total score is the final winner.
CEO Kim Dohyung said, “Along with Busan, Asiad Country Club will do its best to support Busan’s challenge to host the World Expo.”
Busan Mayor Park Hyungjun said, “I sincerely thank Asiad Country Club, Korea’s representative golf course attracting attention beyond Asia to the world, for joining us in the bid for the 2030 Busan World Expo,” adding, “We will do our best to achieve good results next year.”
