[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Hyundai Department Store announced on the 29th that it will hold the 'Wally Happiness Walking Challenge Event' on the 2nd and 3rd of next month at Sounds Forest on the 5th floor of The Hyundai Seoul. Additionally, various Wally character sculptures, including a 13-meter-tall giant Wally, will be installed throughout Sounds Forest, a green park concept space measuring 3,300㎡ (1,000 pyeong).
This event is part of Hyundai Department Store's Happiness Travel Project with Wally, which has been ongoing since May. It is characterized not only by providing simple visual attractions but also by encouraging direct customer participation through activities such as wearing Wally costumes and a 10,000-step walking challenge.
Hyundai Department Store will provide commemorative items such as limited-edition Wally goods to customers who visit The Hyundai Seoul wearing striped T-shirts like Wally. At the event booth inside Sounds Forest, customers who verify the step measurement start screen within the Hyundai Department Store Group's integrated membership H Point application (app) will receive goods produced by Hyundai Department Store and tickets to the Miles Aldridge photo exhibition. Customers who exceed 10,000 steps will receive the Wally board game as an additional gift.
Hyundai Department Store will also operate a Universal Works pop-up store selling a limited 1,000 Wally T-shirts. Customers who purchase T-shirts on-site can immediately participate in the Wally Happiness Walking Challenge event. It is also possible to purchase online in advance through the Naver Store. All proceeds from the sale of Wally T-shirts will be donated to the Purme Foundation and used for rehabilitation treatment for children with walking disabilities.
A Hyundai Department Store official said, "Amid the overall social atmosphere being subdued due to economic recession and rising prices, we planned this event to provide a unique fun and experience, even if just a little." He added, "Customers participating in the event will be able to enjoy the fun of searching for Wally as if they were in a thicket."
