Appointment of Park In-guk as Chairman of Sookmyung Academy and Choi Jong-hyuk as Director of the Academic Institute

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Park In-guk, Director of the Choi Jong-hyun Academy, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Sookmyung Women's University.

On the 28th, Sookmyung Academy announced that at the board meeting held on the 20th, Director Park In-guk was appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Sookmyung Academy. His term will last until June 2026.

The newly appointed Chairman Park is a career diplomat who previously served as Ambassador to the UN. He has held positions such as Presidential Secretary for International Security, Director-General of the Foreign Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Director-General of the Multilateral Diplomacy Bureau. From 2008 to 2011, he served as Ambassador to the UN. Afterwards, he served as Secretary-General of the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies and has been the Director of the Choi Jong-hyun Academy since 2018.

In the field of international organizations, he has served as Co-Chair of the Preparatory Committee for the UN Environment Summit, Chair of the Second Committee (Economic, Financial, and Environmental) of the UN General Assembly, and Chair of the Geneva Disarmament Conference.
