[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Province will host the 2022 Korean Air Cup National University Volleyball Goseong Tournament at the Goseong-gun National Sports Center from June 29 to July 7.

This tournament is hosted by the Korea University Volleyball Federation and jointly organized by the Korea University Volleyball Federation and the Goseong-gun Volleyball Association.

In the men's division, 11 teams in Group A including Hongik University, Sungkyunkwan University, Hanyang University, Gyeongsang National University, Myongji University, Inha University, Kyung Hee University, Chungnam National University, Joongbu University, Chosun University, and Kyonggi University will participate, along with 4 teams in Group B consisting of Gumi University, Mokpo National University, Woosuk University, and Honam University.

In the women's division, 5 teams including Kyungil University, Dankook University, Mokpo Science University, Woosuk University, and Honam University will participate, with a total of about 1,000 players from 20 teams competing in both men's and women's divisions.

The men's Group B and women's divisions will determine rankings through a full league format where all participating teams compete against each other at least once, while the men's Group A will be divided into two groups to play full league matches, followed by a semifinal tournament with the top two teams from each group to decide the champion.

According to the county, the first tournament was held in 2020, and due to the impact of COVID-19, spectators were not allowed to watch in person, but this year, full audience attendance is permitted, allowing fans to watch university volleyball directly, which they had previously only accessed through media.

A county official said, “University volleyball returning to everyday life with spectators will invigorate the local economy through sports marketing,” adding, “We will focus on sports marketing across various disciplines to support local small business owners.”
