[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shim Jeong-woo] Jeollanam-do Goheung-gun (Governor Song Gwi-geun) announced on the 27th that it will extend the operation of the “Goheung Love Gift Certificate 10% Special Discount” from July 1 to the end of December.
The Goheung Love Gift Certificate was first issued in October 2019 to protect small business owners and local commercial districts and to revitalize the local economy. During this year’s Lunar New Year holiday and the first half of the year, 13.5 billion KRW worth was sold with a 10% special discount, an increase of 2.2 billion KRW compared to the first half of 2021.
Since last year, a card-type gift certificate has been launched, and a total of 103 billion KRW has been sold so far.
When purchasing gift certificates individually, up to 500,000 KRW per month can be purchased at a 10% discount off the face value, but franchise owners and corporations (organizations) are restricted from purchasing at the discounted price.
Paper-type gift certificates can be purchased at 44 locations including local Nonghyup, Chukhyup, Suhyup, Saemaeul Geumgo, Shinhyup, and the Forestry Cooperative, and can be used at 2,220 registered franchise stores (traditional markets, restaurants, marts, gas stations, pharmacies, etc.).
The issuing institutions for the Goheung Love Card (card-type Goheung Love Gift Certificate), which could be issued through the Nonghyup or local gift certificate chak app, have been expanded, and from June 29, the Goheung Love Card can also be issued at post offices.
The Goheung Love Card allows users to check card issuance, charging, usage history, and balance in real time through the ‘chak’ app, and elderly residents or those who have difficulty using smartphones can also get card issuance and charging at Nonghyup and post offices.
A county official said, “The 10% discount sale of gift certificates will help stabilize the lives of residents struggling with rising prices and increase sales for small business owners, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy.”
