'Twist Swing' Wolf "I Want to Join LIV Golf Too~"

Johnson and Kepka, Following 'Hulk' DeChambeau, Set to Compete in LIV Golf Invitational Round 2 on the 30th

'Twist Swing' Wolf "I Want to Join LIV Golf Too~" Matthew Wolff is a player famous for his "twist swing," where he twists his left leg just before the swing.

[Asia Economy Kim Hyun-jun, Golf Specialist Reporter] 'Twist Swing' Matthew Wolff is joining LIV Golf.

On the 27th (Korean time), the American Golf Channel reported, "Wolff, along with his college junior and amateur world No. 2 Eugene Chakar, will turn professional and participate in the second LIV Golf Invitational." LIV Golf, led by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), held its first event on the 12th in England, where Charl Schwartzel (South Africa) became the inaugural champion. The second event will take place on the 30th at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in Portland, Oregon, USA.

Wolff was the 3M Open champion in July 2019. He drew more attention by winning the event just one month after turning professional, entering as a sponsor invitee. However, he has finished runner-up four times: at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in June 2020, the US Open in September 2020, the Shriners Open in October 2020, and again at the Shriners Open last October, showing a lack of victories. He is known for his unique 'twist swing,' which involves twisting his left leg just before the swing.

However, in 12 events this year, he has missed the cut seven times and has shown little presence. He also finished tied for 40th at the Travelers Championship this morning. His appearance in LIV Golf signifies a break from the PGA Tour, which has declared a strict policy of 'banning participation.' The second LIV Golf Invitational (with a total prize of $25 million) will feature Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, and 'Hulk' Bryson DeChambeau (all from the USA), among others.
