Selected 100 Companies to Support Platform Entry, Commission and Discount Funding Provided
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government is recently preparing an online exhibition to promote value consumption, which is highly popular among the MZ generation.
On the 28th, Seoul announced that it will recruit 100 social economy enterprises to participate in the online exhibition 'What is Value Consumption? Cabin Market,' scheduled to be held from September to November, until the 15th of next month. 'Cabin Market' is named after Cabin, a popular character from the social economy content platform 'Cabin.net,' and this character will be used throughout the exhibition to enhance the shopping experience.
This exhibition aims not only to offer discounted products but also to increase consumer interest by conducting crowdfunding and live commerce, providing various sales channels for social economy enterprises. Additionally, it plans to make social economy more accessible to the MZ generation, who are interested in value consumption, and provide opportunities to encounter products, thereby encouraging ethical consumption.
Eligible applicants include social enterprises, village enterprises, self-support enterprises, cooperatives, and social venture companies located in Seoul that can independently produce products such as health, food, clothing, daily necessities, and zero-waste products. Through document screening, 60 teams will be selected for the Togethernuri Mall exhibition, 10 teams for live commerce, 15 teams for crowdfunding, and 15 teams for the online curated shop.
Jung Soon-eun, the Social Economy Officer, said, “Cabin Market is an opportunity for the MZ generation, who pursue value consumption, to understand and participate in the social economy,” adding, “We hope it will help revitalize the social economy market by providing new sales channels to social economy enterprises that have faced difficulties for a long time due to COVID-19.”
