Yeongsangang Regional Environmental Office, Mutual Cooperation Agreement for Integrated Water Management in Western and Northern Areas

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] On the 27th, the Yeongsan River Basin Environmental Office signed the "Yeongsan River West and North Region Integrated Water Management Win-Win Cooperation Agreement" at the main auditorium.

The institutions participating in the agreement ceremony included Hampyeong-gun, Jangseong-gun, Korea Water Resources Corporation (Yeong and Seom River Basin Headquarters), and Korea Rural Community Corporation (Jeonnam Regional Headquarters), which are closely related to the use of domestic and agricultural water in the west and north regions of the Yeongsan River.

The agreement is significant in establishing integrated basin water management by enhancing water supply efficiency through mutual linkage between Korea Water Resources Corporation's Pyeongnim Dam, Korea Rural Community Corporation's Suyangje, Hampyeong-gun's Daedong Dam, and Korea Rural Community Corporation's Daedongje, and improving water self-sufficiency rates.

It also includes the roles of each institution and mutual cooperation on joint responses to water issues caused by climate change, efficient cross-use of water resources in the Yeongsan River basin, and other technical·and administrative support.

Kim Seung-hee, head of the Yeongsan River Office, stated, “We share the recognition of the necessity of integrated water management to solve complex water problems within the water system among water management institutions,” and added, “Through this agreement, we will strive to promote the efficient use of water resources within the jurisdictional water system and ensure stable water supply.”
