Gwangju Seobu Fire Station Conducts Emergency Rescue Control Team Activation Drill

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] On the 27th, Gwangju Seobu Fire Station conducted an unannounced activation drill of the Emergency Rescue Control Team to improve on-site response capabilities in preparation for large-scale disasters.

The drill was a response exercise to casualties and property damage caused by a natural disaster (heavy rain). It assumed flooding of the Yangdong covered shopping district riverside parking lot, resulting in casualties and property damage, focusing on strengthening the Emergency Rescue Control Team's ability to respond to multiple casualties.

Several firefighters and fire trucks were mobilized, and the training included ▲establishing an integrated command system through on-site command and control by the Emergency Rescue Control Team leader ▲enhancing the ability to respond to multiple casualties ▲defining roles and strengthening cooperation with emergency rescue support agencies ▲practicing activation procedures of the Emergency Rescue Control Team and familiarizing with tasks by divisions and sections.

A fire official stated, “We will thoroughly understand the assigned tasks and strengthen our performance capabilities to do our best to respond quickly to large-scale disaster situations that may occur at any time.”
