[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Korea Minting, Security Printing & ID Card Operating Corporation held a launch event on the 27th for the ‘FIFA World Cup Korea·Japan 2002’ 20th Anniversary Commemorative Medals.

The commemorative medals were planned and released to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup and to wish for the success of the Korean national team in this year’s ‘Qatar World Cup’.

The production types include four kinds: round gold and silver medals, and banknote-shaped gold and silver medals. The round medals feature the card section “Dreams Come True” and the phrase “AGAIN 2002?” on the front, symbolizing the unity and enthusiasm of the 2002 World Cup, while the back displays the official emblem of the Korea-Japan 2002 FIFA World Cup.

The banknote-shaped medals creatively depict the moment of joy when the Taegeuk Warriors decided the match on the front, and the street cheering scenes dyed red on the back.

In particular, the banknote-shaped silver medal draws attention by expressing the passionate moment covered by the Red Devils using coloring technology for the first time in the corporation’s history.

The selling prices (including VAT) are ▲round gold medal (purity 99.9%, weight 31.1g, diameter 40mm) 4,400,000 KRW ▲round silver medal (purity 99.9%, weight 31.1g, diameter 40mm) 187,000 KRW ▲banknote-shaped gold medal (purity 99.9%, weight 20.0g, width x height 68x154mm) 2,640,000 KRW ▲banknote-shaped silver medal (purity 99.9%, weight 10.0g, 68x154mm) 110,000 KRW.
