Continuous Efforts to Provide Children with a Clean and Hygienic Environment

Plan Korea and Ilseong Construction Carry Out First 2022 Local Children's Center Environment Improvement

Plan Korea and Ilseong Construction completed the first environmental improvement project of 2022 on June 24 at a local children's center located in Namdong-gu, Incheon. This project focused on supporting the center's kitchen and restroom to ensure that children could use the facilities hygienically.

Since 2018, Plan Korea and Ilseong Construction have been carrying out the "Pureun Kkum Jaramtuh Support Project," an environmental improvement initiative for local children's centers in Korea. They have improved the educational, living, and emotional environments of 11 child welfare facilities and supported healthy physical and mental growth through various programs.

They replaced frequently clogged and backflowing toilets and sinks, installed storage cabinets to keep bathroom supplies neat and hygienic, and installed ventilation fans to prevent restroom odors from spreading into the study rooms.

Additionally, in the kitchen, where handling fire poses a high risk of accidents, they replaced the flooring to prevent accidents and installed storage cabinets with good capacity to hygienically store cooking utensils.

Furthermore, considering efficient workflow and convenience within the kitchen, they installed an island countertop and an electric range, as well as supported the replacement of the hood.

A representative from Plan Korea stated, "By focusing on environments closely related to hygiene at local children's centers, the centers used by many children have transformed into cleaner and safer spaces."

Ilseong Construction, which resumed volunteer activities after two years due to the easing of social distancing measures caused by COVID-19, participated with its employees to partially replace wallpaper in the kitchen, restroom, and study rooms, improving the children's educational environment. They also contributed to creating a resting space for the children by installing an outdoor swimming pool.

Plan Korea stated, "With increased interest and importance in hygiene after COVID-19, we will continue to strive to provide good environments not only for spaces used by many but also to establish the concept of personal hygiene."

An Ilseong Construction representative said, "The Pureun Kkum Jaramtuh Support Project, which began based on our corporate philosophy of creating happy living spaces, has now entered its fifth year. With the relaxation of COVID-19 prevention guidelines, it was meaningful to have employees participate again after three years, and we plan to continue supporting children so they can grow up in hygienic environments."
