Shin Yong-gyu and Kim Jung-wook Win Gold... Kim Hyun-bin and Yoon Da-ae Take Bronze
National Wrestling Talent Development Hub Gaining Spotlight with National Team Selections
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Chosun Institute of Science and Technology Wrestling Team (Coach Jeong Cheonmo) has established itself as a prestigious wrestling program by standing out in national wrestling competitions.
Chosun Institute of Science and Technology (President Jo Soon-gye) announced on the 27th that it won two gold medals and two bronze medals at the ‘47th KBS Cup National Wrestling Tournament in Commemoration of Yang Jeong-mo’s Olympic Victory.’
The tournament was held from the 17th to the 23rd in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province.
Athlete Shin Yong-gyu (3rd year, Department of Sports Rehabilitation) won the gold medal in the men’s college freestyle 57kg category, and athlete Kim Jeong-uk (2nd year, Department of Sports Rehabilitation) won the gold medal in the 79kg category.
Additionally, athlete Kim Hyun-bin (1st year, Department of Sports Coaching) won the bronze medal in the men’s college freestyle 125kg category, and athlete Yoon Da-ae (1st year, Department of Sports Coaching) earned the bronze medal in the women’s college freestyle 62kg category.
In particular, athlete Shin Yong-gyu attracted attention from wrestling officials by winning silver medals consecutively at the 45th and 46th ‘National Wrestling Tournament in Commemoration of Yang Jeong-mo’s Olympic Victory’ and this year securing a gold medal.
Also, athlete Kim Jeong-uk, who won a gold medal at the ‘40th Chairman’s National Wrestling Tournament’ held in March, has already earned his second gold medal this year, gaining recognition as a promising talent in domestic wrestling.
Meanwhile, Chosun Institute of Science and Technology officially established its university wrestling team in January 2019 and has achieved outstanding results by dominating various international and national competitions since 2013.
Especially at the ‘40th Chairman’s National Wrestling Tournament’ held last April, the team achieved a remarkable feat by winning one gold medal and three bronze medals, finishing third overall.
Furthermore, in 2019, university wrestler Min Ye-ji was selected as a junior national representative, and in February of this year, Kim Do-geun, Kim Jeong-uk, and Jo Jeong-ah were selected as junior national representatives at the ‘2022 Wrestling National Team 1st Selection Tournament and 2022 Asia Junior and Asia Cadet Dispatch Selection Tournament.’ The Chosun Institute of Science and Technology Wrestling Team is recognized as a cradle for nurturing talented wrestlers in Korea by producing many capable athletes.
