[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Yeungnam Institute of Science and Technology secured approximately 41.88 billion KRW by being selected for eight government-funded projects implemented by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Employment and Labor, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
Starting with the selection as a base-type specialized program operating university for the University Job Plus Center this year, it was consecutively selected for national treasury-supported projects such as the 3rd phase Industry-Academic-Research Cooperation Leading College Development Project (LINC3.0).
Last year, it achieved consecutive successes including selection for the New Industry Specialized Leading College Support Project and designation as a university for general financial support through the University Basic Competency Diagnosis, as well as ranking first in the National Customer Satisfaction Index (NCSI) in the junior college category for nine consecutive years.
Yeungnam Institute of Science and Technology is the only non-metropolitan junior college selected to operate the base-type specialized program of the University Job Plus Center, expanding its target not only to current students but also to youth within two years of graduation and local youth, providing a one-stop employment support service for regional youth.
Additionally, the Future-type Automobile On-site Workforce Training Project to overcome employment crises in the automobile industry fosters core talents with convergent functions and technologies and skilled talents focused on industry demand technologies through establishing new industry strategies for business restructuring into the future automobile sector and practical education utilizing convergent technologies.
The Engineering Technology Education Innovation Center Support Project was selected for the second phase in 2012 and plans to lead the cultivation of creative and convergent global engineering talents and strengthen industrial competitiveness.
In particular, through the Industry-Academic-Research Collabo R&D Project, it will activate industry-academic-research cooperative R&D, promote innovative growth of SMEs, and create jobs.
Also, by being selected as the host university for the 2022 Blue Ladder Daegu-Gyeongbuk region, it will select 85 students and dispatch them for four weeks between July and August to Dimension College in Singapore (40 students), NSI TAFE in Australia (33 students), and Mentora College in Canada (12 students), providing opportunities to enhance their language skills and employment competitiveness.
Based on the know-how of the university’s industry-academic cooperation system and experience from the past 10 years of LINC and LINC+ projects, the 3rd phase Industry-Academic-Research Cooperation Leading College Development Project (LINC3.0) aims to establish an employment system where more than 80% of enrolled students secure employment upon admission, and plans to proceed with the project over the next six years.
A representative of Yeungnam Institute of Science and Technology said, “Being consecutively selected for various national projects recognizes and proves the university’s competitiveness in project execution capability, educational competitiveness, employment success, and student satisfaction,” adding, “We will do our best to nurture field-customized professionals and ensure employment success through education that satisfies students and focuses on practical, field-oriented professional vocational training.”
