368 Volunteer and Sharing Activities Conducted, Over 7,500 Participants Accumulated
On the 18th, employees of POSCO's Electrical Steel Sheet Division carried out environmental cleanup volunteer activities near Donghae Community Sports Complex, including pruning and collecting trash.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] POSCO Pohang Steelworks successfully concluded the 12-day Global Model Citizen Week.
Global Model Citizen Week is a special volunteer activity that POSCO has conducted annually since 2010. This year’s Global Model Citizen Week, themed “POSCO Together! We Together!”, was held for 12 days from June 14 to 25.
This year in the Pohang area, a total of approximately 7,500 people, including employees from 40 partner companies, participated in 368 volunteer activities.
During the 12-day volunteer period, Pohang Steelworks focused on community sharing and care activities as well as local ecological conservation efforts.
During the volunteer period, employees repaired senior centers in sister villages and provided learning support activities for children at child centers, caring for the local community.
In particular, ahead of the summer season marked by heavy rains, typhoons, and heatwaves, activities included creating summer shelters and producing and placing sandbags to prepare for monsoons and typhoons.
POSCO employees continued various ecological conservation activities such as cleaning the environment near beaches and public facilities, restoring windbreak forests in sister villages, caring for cultural heritage, and creating wildflower gardens.
Lee Baek-hee, head of Pohang Steelworks, said, “I am grateful for the passion and hard work of all employees who practiced sharing and volunteering throughout the region during the 12 days. We will strive to become Pohang Steelworks that always grows together with the local community not only during Global Model Citizen Week but also in everyday life.”
