'Korea H2 Business Summit'
Investor Day to be Held Next Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The hydrogen-related private consortium 'Korea H2 Business Summit,' established under the leadership of major domestic conglomerates such as Hyundai Motor and SK, is launching a hydrogen fund (tentative name).
The Korea H2 Business Summit announced on the 27th that it will hold the '2022 Investor Day' for two days from the 6th to 7th of next month at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul, where the hydrogen fund launch ceremony will take place.
The event will be attended by executives from 17 domestic member companies including Hyundai Motor Group and SK Group, as well as overseas energy companies and investment and financial firms, to discuss the current status and vision of Korea's hydrogen business. In particular, Mirae Asset, selected as the representative fund manager of the hydrogen fund, will present the fund composition and future investment directions on the day of the event. The hydrogen fund is being established to create domestic hydrogen demand through large-scale investments and to jointly develop hydrogen-related technologies and infrastructure.
The Korea H2 Business Summit explained, "The main point of launching the hydrogen fund is to lay the groundwork for the growth of the hydrogen ecosystem in the Republic of Korea."
Additionally, during Investor Day, there will be corporate presentation (IR) sessions where each member company’s hydrogen business status and related plans and visions can be viewed. Besides domestic member companies, senior officials from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and overseas government funds such as the New York State Common Retirement Fund (NYSCRF) and the London Pension Fund (LGPS) will attend to give speeches and lectures. Alongside this, discussions will be held on ways to activate investment in the domestic hydrogen industry and the potential for cooperation between domestic and international companies. Speeches and lectures will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel on the day of the event.
The Korea H2 Business Summit was launched in September last year with the purpose of early spreading the hydrogen economy and strengthening the hydrogen competitiveness of Korean companies. A total of 17 companies participate, including three chair companies Hyundai Motor Group, SK Group, and POSCO Group, as well as Lotte Group, Hanwha Group, GS Group, Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, Doosan Group, Hyosung Group, Kolon Group, Samsung C&T, and LG Chem.
