The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 27th that it will conduct the 2022 Smart City and Service Certification Contest for about two months starting from the 28th to discover and certify excellent smart city cases targeting local governments and companies.
The certification is a project promoted under the "Smart City Act" and is divided into Smart City Certification and Smart Service Certification.
Smart City Certification aims to evaluate whether local governments have sufficient capabilities as smart cities. The main evaluation factors include ?the expertise and innovativeness of citizens and local government officials, ?the institutional foundation and promotion system for implementing smart cities, and ?whether smart city services or infrastructure are in place.
Service Certification reviews whether the services developed by companies ?contribute to improving the quality of life of urban residents and enhancing urban competitiveness, ?implement the necessary technologies and functions for smooth service operation, and ?are easy to introduce and spread regionally.
Applications are accepted until August 19, and certification targets will be selected in September after evaluation.
Local governments and services that receive certification will be awarded the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s commendation and a plaque. Benefits such as selection as innovative products for public sector procurement will also be considered and provided.
