Park Guhan and Lee Haesook Visit All 1,647 Places on Ulleungdo
"Stories Seen, Heard, Learned, and Felt to Be Compiled into a Book"
There is a couple who has visited all 1,647 cultural heritage sites nationwide, drawing attention. They are Park Guhan and Lee Haesook, residents of Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. According to the Cultural Heritage Administration on the 27th, since August last year, they have visited 1,645 cultural heritage sites (including national treasures, treasures, historic sites, and scenic sites) using the "My Own Cultural Heritage Guide" app. By visiting the last two cultural heritage sites on Ulleungdo Island by the end of this month, they will have experienced all the cultural heritage sites in the country. The "My Own Cultural Heritage Guide" is a mobile application that provides information on cultural heritage events, viewing guidance, explanatory information, and visit certification. The visit certification function allows users to obtain a stamp by verifying their location within 200 meters of a cultural heritage site.
Park Guhan and Lee Haesook said, "After retirement, we purchased a camper van and planned a trip around the country. We visited the Cultural Heritage Administration’s website and downloaded the 'My Own Cultural Heritage Guide' app." They added, "Since it was easy to find the locations of cultural heritage sites, we decided to visit and certify all the cultural heritage sites nationwide." They also shared, "Over the past year, we plan to compile the stories of what we saw, heard, learned, and felt at the cultural heritage sites into a book."
The Cultural Heritage Administration will present a commemorative plaque in the name of the commissioner at Ulleungdo, the couple’s final visit certification site. Additionally, next month, those who visit and certify designated cultural heritage sites in Chungcheong Province (Nonsan Myeongjae Old House, Sejong Hongpanseodaek, Saun Old House), Jeolla Province (Gokseong Jehojeong Old House, Gurye Unjoru Old House, Namwon Mongsimjae Old House), Gyeongsang Province (Hamyang Ildu Old House, Geochang Donggye Jongtaek, Gyeongju Dokrakdang), and Jeju Island (Seogwipo Soesokak, Seongeup Village Gopyeongo Old House, Seongsan Ilchulbong Natural Reserve) will be entered into a drawing where twenty-five people per region will receive prizes.
