[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Hyundai Motor Company's circuit race car 'Elantra N TCR (domestic name Avante N TCR)' achieved consecutive victories at the WTCR (World Touring Car Cup) Round 4 race in Spain, following the Hungarian event.

On the 27th, Hyundai Motor announced that the 'Elantra N TCR' won the second final race of Round 4 of the global top-tier touring car competition '2022 WTCR,' held over two days from the 25th to the 26th (local time) at the Aragon Circuit in Alcaniz, Spain.

The event featured 17 high-performance C-segment race cars, including the Audi RS3 LMS, Honda Civic TCR, Cupra Leon Competicion, and Lynk & Co 03 TCR.

Mikel Azcona, a driver from the 'BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse' team competing with the Elantra N TCR race car, crossed the finish line first in the second final race held on the 26th with a time of 27 minutes 31.604 seconds.

With this victory, Mikel Azcona earned 25 points. Adding the 19 points he gained from finishing fourth in the first final race, he accumulated 44 points in the Spain event alone, solidifying his lead in the driver standings with a total of 129 points.

Additionally, the BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse team scored a total of 56 points in this event. With a total of 165 points so far, they proudly secured first place in the team rankings for the season.

The WTCR competition was newly established at the end of 2017 by merging the 'TCR International Series' and the 'WTCC (World Touring Car Championship).' Alongside Formula One and the World Rally Championship, it is one of the FIA (F?d?ration Internationale de l’Automobile) sanctioned international motorsport events.

The '2022 WTCR' is held across nine countries in Europe and Asia, with two final races at each event. The results of a total of 20 races held throughout the year are combined to determine the winning team and driver for the year.

A Hyundai Motor official stated, "Following the consecutive wins at the Hungarian event, we were able to demonstrate Hyundai Motor's excellent high-performance technology based on solid fundamentals in front of motorsport fans worldwide," adding, "We will do our best to continue achieving good results in the remaining races of this season."
