[Asia Economy Kim Hyun-jun, Golf Specialist Reporter] "A birdie and a double bogey on the final 18th hole."
'Tokyo Olympics Gold' Xander Schauffele's dramatic come-from-behind victory. On the 27th (Korean time) at the Travelers Championship (total prize money $8.3 million) held at River Highlands TPC in Cromwell, Connecticut, USA (par 70, 6,852 yards), he added 2-under par on the final day to secure a 2-stroke victory (19-under par 261). This is his second win of the season following the Zurich Classic in April, his sixth career win, and the winner's prize money is $1,494,000 (19.36 billion KRW).
Schauffele drew even more spotlight by sinking a 1-meter winning birdie on the 18th hole (par 4). Meanwhile, Sahith Theegala, who was leading by one stroke, hit his tee shot into a fairway bunker and took two shots to escape, eventually making a double bogey with '4 on 2 putts,' losing the victory he almost had. He tied for second place with J.T. Poston at 17-under par 263. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (both from the USA) remained tied for 13th place at 10-under par 270.
