[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is launching a special safety inspection of 74 campsites within the province.
On the 27th, Gyeonggi Province announced that from the 27th of this month to the 1st of next month, it will conduct a special safety inspection of 74 campsites near valleys and rivers in the province, where the risk of accidents is high due to heavy rains during the monsoon season.
The 74 sites subject to inspection are located near valleys and rivers among the total 689 campsites in the province, where flooding or landslides are a concern.
The province, in cooperation with city and county governments, will check ▲ whether evacuation plans are established and pre-notified in case of heavy rain ▲ whether operators maintain communication systems with related agencies during emergencies ▲ the status of evacuation route signs and drainage facility installations.
Based on the inspection results, urgent or minor issues will be addressed immediately on-site, and matters requiring more time will be continuously managed for compliance.
Choi Yong-hoon, Director of Tourism at the province, said, "With the lifting of mandatory social distancing measures, a large number of campers are expected during the peak summer season," adding, "We will do our best to prevent disasters in preparation for heavy rain so that campers can enjoy their activities safely."
