[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Development Corporation announced on the 26th that it has signed a business agreement with SK Pinks to establish an 'eco-friendly resource circulation ecosystem' and will take the lead in creating a sustainable resource circulation system.
This agreement involves Jeju Development Corporation and SK Pinks building a cooperative system to utilize transparent PET bottles separately collected by tourists and Jeju residents. Both companies agreed to practice eco-friendly management and spread the value of clean Jeju through resource circulation under this agreement.
Jeju Development Corporation plans to promote social value creation activities such as ▲ collecting colorless PET bottles separately disposed of after use at Pinks GC, Podo Hotel, and Dianex ▲ operating and promoting eco-friendly campaigns within hotels and establishing and supporting networks related to upcycling. SK Pinks will create a space for separate disposal of colorless PET bottles within SK Pinks to encourage separate disposal of colorless PET bottles and conduct eco-friendly campaigns to spread the clean value of Jeju.
Kim Jeong-hak, President of Jeju Development Corporation, said, "Through cooperation with SK Pinks, we expect to expand the resource circulation system promoted by Jeju Development Corporation and create an opportunity to inform tourists and residents of the value and importance of resource circulation."
Meanwhile, regarding the eco-friendly resource circulation ecosystem creation project, Jeju Development Corporation signed an agreement with Haevichi Hotel & Resort in September last year, followed by Dream Tower and Toscana this year, making SK Pinks the fourth partner. Through this project, about 5.5 tons of colorless PET bottles have been collected so far. It is expected to reduce about 21 tons of carbon dioxide, equivalent to planting approximately 6,875 pine trees.
