'Gun Shooting' at LGBTQ Festival in Oslo, Norway... 2 Dead, 21 Injured

Iranian-Norwegian Man Moves Between Nearby Gay Bars, Opens Fire
Norwegian Police Arrest Suspect Near Club... "Investigating as Terror Attack"

[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Kyung-jun] A shooting incident occurred near a nightclub in a busy area of Oslo, the capital of Norway, resulting in 2 deaths and at least 21 injuries, Reuters and AFP reported on the 25th (local time).

According to reports, around 1 a.m. that day, a man opened fire at three locations including outside the famous nightclub and gay bar 'London Pub' in downtown Oslo. As a result, 2 people died and 21 were injured. Among the injured, 10 are in serious condition.

The police arrested one suspect near the club, who is believed to have acted alone. Local police stated in a press release, "We are investigating this incident as a terrorist attack."

The police revealed that the arrested man is an Iranian-Norwegian national who was previously known to local authorities for possession of weapons and drugs.

It was reported that the shooter started at London Pub and moved to the adjacent club and nearby streets while firing the gun.

The motive of the suspect has not yet been clearly revealed, but since the Pride parade, a festival for sexual minorities, was held in Oslo that day, it is suspected that the suspect fired the gun out of dissatisfaction with the festival.

Previously, on July 22, 2011, far-right extremist Anders Behring Breivik opened fire in downtown Oslo and nearby Utøya Island, killing 77 people.
