[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] “Why isn’t my wife being treated quickly?”

A dangerous incident occurred when a man in his 60s, dissatisfied with the slow treatment of his wife at a university hospital emergency room, attempted arson.

Fortunately, hospital staff quickly extinguished the fire, preventing a major accident.

According to the Busan Western Police Station on the 25th, at around 9:50 p.m. on the 24th, a woman in her 60s was brought to the emergency room of a general hospital in Ami-dong, Seo-gu, after drinking alcohol and ingesting poison.

The woman’s husband, Mr. A, became angry due to dissatisfaction with the treatment process, brought a 2-liter water bottle filled with gasoline, poured gasoline on the emergency room floor and on himself, and set it on fire with a lighter.

Hospital staff who saw this quickly restrained Mr. A, and firefighters arrived at the emergency room and promptly extinguished the fire. Mr. A sustained 2nd to 3rd degree burns on his shoulders and legs and is receiving treatment.

The police believe Mr. A, dissatisfied with the medical staff for not treating his wife quickly, set fire to the PET bottle containing gasoline.

It was investigated that Mr. A came to the emergency room under the misunderstanding that his wife, who was passed out drunk, had ingested herbicide.

The criminal team of the Western Police Station plans to book Mr. A on charges of arson of an occupied building and investigate him once treatment is completed.
