Rising Above IPO Price on First Day of KOSDAQ Listing
World's First and Only Developer and Holder of 'Myeon-Laser' Optical Technology
Revolutionary Reduction in Process Time... Supplying to Global Top-Tier Companies
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Laser Cell, an innovative laser solution company, is trading above its IPO price on its first day of listing.
At 9:32 a.m. on the 24th, Laser Cell was trading at 22,350 KRW, up 8.5% from the opening price.
On the same day, Laser Cell started trading at 20,600 KRW, which is 28.75% higher than the IPO price of 16,000 KRW.
Founded in 2015, Laser Cell is the world’s first and only company to develop and own ‘area-laser’ optical technology. Based on this technology, it succeeded in developing area-laser reflow equipment that bonds chips and semiconductor printed circuit boards (PCBs). Laser Cell’s area-laser reflow equipment irradiates the laser over an area rather than a point while maintaining uniformity of the laser beam.
Laser Cell is entering the semiconductor packaging process. Existing packaging methods have used mass reflow (MR), which heats air to bond chips and substrates, and thermal compression bonding (TCB), which heats and presses the chip to bond it to the substrate.
CEO Choi Jae-joon of Laser Cell said, "Existing MR and TCB methods have issues such as warping and longer processing times. Using area-laser reflow equipment eliminates warping and reduces processing time per unit by 3 to 15 times compared to existing methods, making it more efficient," he explained.
Laser Cell’s technology can be applied not only to heterogeneous semiconductor production but also to bonding printed circuit boards (PCBs) within electric vehicle battery management systems (BMS) and mini LED debonding in next-generation displays.
Laser Cell recorded sales of 9.7 billion KRW and an operating loss of 800 million KRW last year. The company expects sales to more than double this year and anticipates an operating profit of approximately 4.3 billion KRW.
CEO Choi stated, "Laser Cell’s technology is recognized by global top-tier companies in advanced semiconductor fields, next-generation display sectors, and electric vehicle battery industries, supplying differentiated products." He added, "Through listing on the KOSDAQ market, we will continue research and development and expand various area-laser based technologies to evolve into the world’s only total ‘area-laser’ solution platform."
Laser Cell was validated for the competitiveness and reliability of its technology for one and a half years by the U.S. AREA consortium in 2016, its second year after establishment. Leading global companies are knocking on Laser Cell’s door.
Researcher Park Jong-sun of Eugene Investment & Securities analyzed, "Global standardization of the world’s first area light source laser bonding is underway through the AREA consortium (U.S.) and IME research institute (Singapore). Laser Cell has successfully entered global representative customers in each field, continuously expanding business opportunities."
He emphasized, "With 37 clients and 44 projects underway, rapid performance growth is expected. Securing global top-tier customers in semiconductor, electric vehicle battery, and IT sectors is positive for market expansion."
