[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will hold the "1st Busan Metropolitan City Superintendent of Education Surfing Competition" at Songjeong Beach on the 26th. A total of 76 students from 43 elementary and middle schools will participate in the competition.
The competition aims to contribute to the popularization of surfing, a distinctive marine sport in the Busan area, and to nurture future talents.
The competition is hosted by the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education and organized by the Busan Surfing Federation.
The competition will be divided into categories: combined lower grades for elementary grades 1 to 3, combined upper grades for elementary grades 4 to 6, middle school boys, and middle school girls.
Evaluation will be conducted by summing the top two scores based on the rules of the Busan Surfing Association.
Awarding will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place students in each competition category with the Superintendent of Education Award.
Nam Su-jeong, Director of School Life Education at the Busan Office of Education, said, "This first-ever competition will be a great opportunity for Busan's surfing hopefuls to hone their skills," adding, "We will activate marine leisure sports in school education so that students can develop healthy physical strength."
