[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Ahn Cheol-soo, a member of the People Power Party, visited the funeral hall set up at Seoul Asan Medical Center on the 23rd to pay respects to the late Professor Emeritus Cho Soon of Seoul National University.
Meeting with reporters that day, Ahn said, "The deceased was a great scholar, administrator, Governor of the Bank of Korea, politician, and above all, a truly respected elder of the Republic of Korea."
Ahn recalled, "I visited him personally almost every year, and the advice he gave me when I visited separately last year as a candidate for the Seoul mayoral election still remains vivid in my memory." He added, "He spoke in great detail about aspects related to citizens' lives, such as fine dust and green spaces. Those memories are still very vivid."
Earlier, Ahn posted on Facebook, "The deceased served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Planning and as Governor of the Bank of Korea, firmly laying the foundation of the Korean economy with conviction and principles," and "I bow my head in sincere prayer for the deceased's repose and eternal rest."
