[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] On the 23rd, President Yoon Seok-yeol collectively requested the National Assembly to resend the personnel hearing outcome reports for Park Soon-ae, Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs and Minister of Education; Kim Seung-hee, Minister of Health and Welfare; and Kim Seung-gyeom, nominee for Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The Presidential Office spokesperson announced in a press release that President Yoon requested the submission of the personnel hearing outcome reports for these nominees, stating, "The submission deadline is the 29th of this month, allowing a period of seven days from today."
Accordingly, the appointments of these nominees are expected to be decided in early next month after President Yoon returns from his overseas visit to attend the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit.
According to the Personnel Hearing Act, if the outcome report is not submitted within 20 days from the date the personnel hearing request is submitted to the National Assembly, the President may request resubmission within a period of up to 10 days.
If the National Assembly fails to submit the report again within the resubmission deadline, the President may appoint the nominees.
Previously, the personnel hearings for these nominees could not be held due to difficulties in scheduling amid challenges in reaching an agreement on the second half organizational structure between the ruling and opposition parties.
