Andong City Public Health Center Protects Citizens' Health through Goodbye Godang Project.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gui-yeol] The Andong City Public Health Center in Gyeongbuk will launch the 'Goodbye Godang Project' from June 28, focusing on intensive management of vulnerable eup, myeon, and dong areas with high medical utilization rates for Godang (hypertension and diabetes).

In collaboration with the National Health Insurance Service's Healthy 100-Year Life Exercise Class, the project will visit welfare centers, resident health support centers, and senior citizen centers in vulnerable Godang areas to identify chronic disease patients through pre- and post-examinations and provide various integrated health promotion education, initiating regular health management.

The second and third leading causes of death in Andong City are heart disease and cerebrovascular disease, with mortality rates higher than the national and Gyeongbuk provincial averages.

Additionally, the rapid increase in medical expenses due to the rising prevalence of chronic diseases leads to increased socioeconomic burdens, making it important to minimize losses through prevention and improve the efficiency of health management.

To this end, the city health center is focusing on intensive management of vulnerable eup, myeon, and dong areas with high Godang rates through various methods such as health consultations and promotional campaigns during the farming season and the Goodbye Godang project linked with the National Health Insurance Service, aiming to encourage citizen interest in health management and promote changes in health behaviors.

The head of the Health Promotion Division at the Andong City Public Health Center stated, “We will operate the Goodbye Godang project systematically and do our best for citizen health management to make Andong free from worries about chronic diseases.”
