[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Pukyong National University is hosting the "8th Pukyong Maritime Humanities University," a program that combines the sea and humanities for Busan citizens.
The 8th Pukyong Maritime Humanities University is jointly organized by Pukyong National University's Humanities Korea Plus (HK+) Project Group Regional Humanities Center and Busan humanities organization Narakhanal.
The program will be held every Tuesday evening from 7 PM to 9 PM at Narakhanal in Choryang-dong, Dong-gu, from the 5th of this month until October 25.
The program offers 15 unique lectures under the theme "Maritime Stories (海域物語): Objects That Crossed the Sea," combining the sea and humanities, free of charge for university students, office workers, housewives, and the general public.
Expert lecturers including Pukyong National University professors specializing in maritime and humanities fields will present lectures such as ▲ A wine tasting record left by a Joseon youth in 1720 ▲ The cultural path of Japanese Hanafuda cards ▲ Dice games and railroads ▲ Viruses and diseases ▲ Soccer and baseball ▲ Artistic films that crossed the sea ▲ Bricks and ceramics ▲ Art and stock certificates ▲ Navigation training ships ▲ Culture and world economy contained in the aroma of coffee! ▲ Opium ▲ The journey of automobiles ▲ The movement of books that changed the world ▲ Tea (茶), crossing the sea with fragrance ▲ The history of the magical spice ‘gochu’ (red pepper), telling stories of objects that traveled along maritime routes.
Applications for the program can be made on the Pukyong National University HK+ Project Group Regional Humanities Center website from the 27th of this month until July 1.
The Pukyong National University HK+ Project Group has been offering the Pukyong Maritime Humanities University program, a differentiated humanities lecture combining the sea and humanities characteristic of the Busan region, free of charge since 2018.
