[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Kim Jong-min, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, mentioned the 'election responsibility theory' among the party's leadership and stated, "Member Lee Jae-myung is also included in that (responsibility target)."

On the 23rd, Kim said on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show,' "The re-elected members requested this time to step down from symbolic representative figures," expressing this view.

The day before, re-elected Democratic Party members issued a statement effectively targeting Member Lee, saying that those responsible for the March 9 presidential election and June 1 local election defeats should not run in the party convention scheduled for August.

On the same day, Jeon Hae-cheol, a senior pro-Moon faction member within the party, declared on Facebook that he would not run in the party convention for the party leadership election.

Kim’s explanation implies that senior leaders such as Jeon Hae-cheol, Hong Young-pyo, and Lee In-young, who played significant roles in the presidential and local elections, cannot be free from responsibility.

Regarding Member Lee’s candidacy, he said, "It is now the stage to start considering it," adding, "It is a very important discussion task whether the senior leaders responsible for our election defeats will step forward this time or show a repentant attitude and present new energy to the people."

He also predicted that active discussions, including this topic, would take place during the two-day party members’ workshop starting that day. He explained, "The party members’ general meeting is truly a sanctuary-free zone," and "Almost everything that needs to be said comes out at the general meeting."
