Eradication of Corruption Intervention in Advance! ... Jun Nak-Young, Mayor of Gyeongju City, Actively Promotes 'Anti-Corruption and Integrity Policy' The scene of the 'Tongtong Talk Concert' held in May last year by Gyeongju City, Gyeongbuk Province, to improve the internal organizational culture.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Gyeongju City, Gyeongbuk Province, is implementing strong anti-corruption and integrity policies to achieve zero corruption and become a clean city.

Gyeongju City has set three main strategies: ▲advancement of anti-corruption and integrity systems ▲efforts and achievements in improving corruption-prone areas ▲expansion of anti-corruption and integrity policies, and plans to carry out 17 detailed tasks.

Previously, the city received a grade 3 (7.98 points) in the external integrity evaluation last year, and a grade 3 (7.57 points) in the internal integrity evaluation conducted among 153 public officials, marking a grade 3 overall integrity rating for two consecutive years.

In particular, it scored 7.77 points in internal integrity evaluation items and integrity culture indicators, which was higher than the national city average (7.30 points).

These results are seen as a major factor in the rise of internal integrity through strengthened communication with employees, and this year, the city plans to further raise internal integrity through various policies.

Moreover, the city plans to expand communication with external organizations related to corruption-prone areas to enhance administrative trust.

Additionally, to ensure the stable establishment of the conflict of interest prevention system, all employees will engage in self-study of the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act and pre-inspections to block pre-corruption involvement by all public officials, thereby restoring citizens' trust.

Mayor Ju Nak-young of Gyeongju said, “Following the 7th term, we will do our best to fulfill the pledge of creating a ‘Clean Gyeongju’ in the 8th term as well.”
