Best Efforts to Secure Funds for Local Extinction Response and Address Urgent Issues

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] On the 22nd, Gu In-mo, the mayor of Geochang County, held a press conference in the county office situation room to conclude the 7th local government term, sharing the major achievements and reflections of the past four years, key pending issues, and communicating with attending journalists.
Before sharing the achievements, Mayor Gu said, "The past four years have been a precious time during which we ran tirelessly to complete the 'Greater Geochang Leap, Era of Citizen Happiness,' gaining confidence that any obstacle can be overcome when the administration and citizens work together."
Among these, Mayor Gu In-mo highlighted the resolution of three major issues: ▲settling conflicts related to Geochang Detention Center, relocating the Geochang Branch and District Prosecutor's Office within the Legal Town site, and transferring the trademark rights of the International Theater Festival ▲regaining the 2nd place in military population within the province ▲attracting the Elevator Safety Technology Institute and fostering the elevator industry ▲the construction of urban roundabouts ▲confirmation of the southern bypass road construction project ▲expansion of various tourism infrastructures such as Geochang Changpo Garden, Anti-aging Healing Land, and Gamaksan Wellness Experience Center as core achievements.
He also added that they secured awards in 180 fields and incentives worth 3.5 billion KRW, were selected for 239 public projects, securing 167.5 billion KRW in national and provincial funds, and opened the era of a 700 billion KRW budget.
Furthermore, he emphasized that they will do their best to promote urgent projects such as the construction of the Geochang County Complex Education Center, securing funds to respond to local extinction, and creating the Geochang County Organic Industry Complex Service Support Complex. Among the 56 pledges of the 7th local government term, they will strive to complete seven ongoing pledges, including revitalizing the Family Hot Spring District and upgrading Gyeongnam Provincial Geochang College to a four-year university, through multifaceted approaches.
Attending journalists inquired about the progress of ongoing projects such as the regional responsible medical institution and the registration of Geochang Changpo Garden as a national garden, as well as about the construction of a crematorium and smart farm initiatives pledged for the 8th local government term.
Mayor Gu said, "Based on the achievements and confidence of the past four years, in the 8th local government term, we will open the 'Future Geochang Era where everyone wants to live,' achieving first place in military population, entering the 1 trillion KRW budget era, reaching 100 million KRW in agricultural income, and welcoming one million visitors in forest tourism." He added, "I thank the journalists who have worked hard for the development of Geochang County and ask for their sincere advice and cooperation for the continued progress of county administration."
Mayor Gu In-mo plans to start the 8th local government term on July 1 without a separate inauguration ceremony, beginning with a visit to the Chung-hon Tower, a regular staff meeting, and volunteer meal service at the Life Resting Place.
