[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jeong Young-gwon] Dotong-dong, Namwon-si, Jeonbuk announced on the 22nd that it conducted a workshop over two days from the 20th to the 21st for about 30 members of the village planning group to establish a resident-led village welfare plan.
The village welfare plan is a small welfare activity in eup, myeon, and dong where residents gather on their own to consider the problems of the village, create and implement a village plan to solve them, enhance residents' participation and capabilities, and build a community.
In March, the village planning group was reorganized centered on the local community security council, residents' autonomy committee, and village chiefs, and the workshop was held as a stepping stone to establish the village welfare plan.
On the first day, an expert gave a case lecture on "Understanding Residents' Autonomy," and on the second day, participants were divided into subcommittees by areas of interest and engaged in activities to find resources and agendas in the dong, accelerating the establishment of the village welfare plan.
Going forward, the village planning group's subcommittee meetings (village, welfare, culture) and activities, as well as free communication among participants, will be used to discover and select agendas and prepare welfare plans suitable for the dong.
Hwang Do-yeon, head of Dotong-dong, said, "Through the village planning group project, I hope that the resident autonomy meetings, where residents themselves lead changes in the region through a process of sharing, public discussion, and empathy with cooperation between the public and private sectors, will become more active."
