Arrangement of Furniture Inside Residential Containers... Realistic Fire Scene Simulation
Director Kim Jo-il: "Complex and Diverse Scenes... Enhancing Investigator Skills"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Kim Joil) is accelerating efforts to improve fire scene investigation capabilities to clearly identify the causes of fires.
Jeonnam Fire announced on the 22nd that it held the "Jeonnam Fire Investigation Competition" at the Jangheung-gun Busan-myeon Agricultural Industrial Complex.
Held for the fourth time this year, the "Fire Investigation Competition" was promoted to enhance the scientific fire investigation and evidence collection abilities of fire investigators working on-site in response to the increasingly complex and diverse fire patterns.
Fire investigation is a process of scientifically analyzing the fire progression and combustion patterns to determine the cause of the fire, which serves as basic data for establishing fire prevention policies for similar fires.
Forty fire investigators from 20 fire stations across Jeonnam Province participated in this competition.
The competition evaluated fire cause and damage investigation, fire evidence investigation, and fire evidence photographic appraisal to assess fire investigation and appraisal capabilities, selecting the top three teams as finalists.
To simulate an actual fire scene, the interior space of a residential container was arranged with furniture, sofas, and household items, and an artificial ignition was set to recreate a real fire scene.
The best team will represent Jeonnam Fire Headquarters in the fire investigation category at the National Fire Technology Competition to be held in September.
The National Fire Technology Competition is known as the Firefighter Olympics, where firefighters nationwide compete in five categories: fire, rescue, emergency medical services, strongest firefighter, and fire investigation. This year, fire investigation was adopted as an official category for the first time.
Kim Joil, Chief of Jeonnam Fire Headquarters, said, "The increasing complexity and diversity of fire scenes demand accurate and scientific determination of fire causes," adding, "We will do our best to clearly identify fire causes by improving the capabilities of fire investigation personnel."
