Im Tae-hee Elected Official: "Differential Support Based on Innovation School Designation Is Not Fair"

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lim Tae-hee, the elected superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, stated that it is unfair to differentiate school support based on whether a school is designated as an Innovation School, and pledged to support the operation of various types of school models.

On the 21st at 2:30 PM, Lim held a communication roundtable with 10 on-site teachers at the Gyeonggi Education Welfare Comprehensive Center in Suwon, promising, "Basic academic skills should be approached as competencies necessary for children to live in the future society, so we will introduce AI high-tech-based academic diagnostics to support personalized education for students."

He continued, "While it is good to share the advantages of Innovation Schools, it is unfair to differentiate school support based on Innovation School designation. We will support the operation of various school models and share and expand diverse school curriculum operation cases throughout the province," he emphasized.

Additionally, he added, "We will find various methods in cooperation with local governments regarding (morning meals), and we will also strive to reduce administrative tasks so that teachers can focus on their classes."

Teachers attending the roundtable expressed difficulties in the field such as ▲support for guaranteeing basic academic skills ▲operation of the high school credit system ▲reduction of teachers' administrative tasks ▲distribution of textbooks ▲support for students in care and special education students ▲infringement on educational activities. They also freely proposed differing opinions related to campaign promises such as ▲Innovation School operation ▲morning meals ▲IB curriculum and evaluation innovation ▲teacher personnel system.

Meanwhile, the 5th term Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education Superintendent Transition Committee is operating a policy proposal website to communicate while listening to various opinions from the Gyeonggi education family.
