[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, presided over an expanded meeting of the Party Central Military Commission and discussed the party's military line and key national defense policy implementation measures.
Attention is focused on whether the meeting, which has been ongoing for several days, will also discuss the readiness for the 7th nuclear test.
On the 22nd, the Korean Central News Agency reported, "The 3rd expanded meeting of the 8th Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea was convened on June 21," stating that General Secretary Kim attended and led the meeting.
The agency stated, "It summarizes the overall national defense projects for the first half of 2022 and determines the crucial immediate national defense construction tasks," adding, "Issues for thoroughly implementing the party's military line and key national defense policies are placed on the agenda."
Furthermore, it reported, "It summarizes (analyzes) the military-political activities of the party organizations within the Ministry of National Defense, the General Staff, the Party's Korean People's Army Committee, commanders, staffs, political departments, and military organs at all levels of the Korean People's Army," and "Important strategic and tactical tasks facing the Korean People's Army will be assigned."
