Building Virtual Interview Rooms on Metaverse Platforms
Accelerating Digital Transformation with Virtual Offices and More
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] Hanwha TotalEnergies is introducing an interview system utilizing the metaverse (extended virtual world) and expanding digital transformation non-face-to-face recruitment.
Hanwha Total announced on the 21st that it has established a virtual interview room on the metaverse platform 'Gather Town.' Applicants for recruitment can access this virtual interview room to take their interviews.
The company explained that by using the metaverse, it is possible not only to share video but also to provide a realistic interview experience in a virtual space where job seekers connected with avatars can access various content about the company while waiting for the interview and move directly to the interview location.
The virtual interview room was designed to allow applicants to feel as if they visited the company, with images related to the petrochemical plant implemented throughout, and information points, interview waiting rooms, and interview rooms were established where company information can be checked.
Hanwha Total plans to use the system for intern interviews linked to recruitment in the second half of the year after stabilizing the system, starting with interviews for experienced workers.
A Hanwha Total representative said, "The virtual interview room not only eliminates the inconvenience of physical movement to and from the interview site but is also expected to help applicants fully demonstrate their abilities in a comfortable atmosphere by reducing the burden of face-to-face interviews."
Before building the virtual interview room, Hanwha Total has been enhancing employee work efficiency by operating a virtual office. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic and telecommuting, it opened and operates a virtual office using Gather Town to improve work continuity and communication convenience for employees outside the office.
In addition, it is expanding the introduction of digital transformation to improve factory operation efficiency and strengthen safety management. As part of the 'digital twin' connecting data generated in actual factories with virtual factories, a digital map has been built.
A digital map that exactly replicates the entire Daesan plant was constructed, and over the past three years, some of the engineering data maintained, equipment maintenance and inspection history data, and location-based work and worker data within the plant have been integrated.
Through an application installed on the mobile phones of external workers who enter the plant for work, in case of an emergency during work, accident reports and the real-time location of the worker can be identified on the map, enabling faster response.
In the future, the digital map will be refined to represent not only above-ground facilities but also important underground pipelines and high-voltage cables, to be used during construction or work.
Jojonghwan, Executive Director in charge of Digital Transformation at Hanwha TotalEnergies, said, "The scope of digital transformation is rapidly expanding across the company's overall work support areas, from factory operation and safety management to sales, remote work, and recruitment," adding, "We plan to promote various projects to preemptively introduce digital technologies specialized for the process industry to enhance factory competitiveness."
