[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The Presidential Office announced on the 20th that the Japanese government proposed a summit meeting among the leaders of South Korea, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand, and that our government is also reviewing the proposal.


A Presidential Office official stated at a briefing held at the Yongsan Presidential Office in the afternoon that "The Yomiuri Shimbun reported that the Japanese government is considering holding a four-nation summit meeting on the occasion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit, and we have confirmed this to be true."


The official explained, "The proposal for the four-nation summit was received from the Japanese side, and the Presidential Office's National Security Office is currently reviewing it."


According to Yomiuri, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida plans to confirm cooperation through talks with the leaders of the four NATO Asia-Pacific partner countries: South Korea, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.
