Damyang-gun Receives Great Response to Strawberry Hydroponic Cultivation Training


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Chunsu] The 15th Strawberry Hydroponic Cultivation Course of the Damyang-gun Agricultural College, operated in Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do, is receiving great responses from participants due to its field-centered education combined with theory.


According to the county on the 20th, the Agricultural College selects and operates crops annually to provide long-term technical education by item necessary for the specialized development of local agriculture, aiming to cultivate professional agricultural managers equipped with rational farm management and scientific farming practice capabilities.


In April, the county opened a strawberry hydroponic cultivation course, a representative agricultural product of the county, and invited professional instructors to conduct systematic theoretical education, on-site learning at leading farms, field trips to advanced sites, and practical training using scientific farming facilities, providing over 100 hours of education over eight months.


In particular, during the two recent on-site learning sessions, participants visited strawberry seedling sites of farms involved in the Agricultural College directly, addressing difficulties on-site and conducting education focused on various case studies.


A county official said, “As the strawberry cultivation method in our region shifts from soil cultivation to hydroponic cultivation, many trainees participated,” adding, “We will enhance the competitiveness of Damyang strawberries through in-depth education on understanding strawberry production facility environments, strawberry nutrient solution systems that farmers find challenging, and physiological disorder countermeasures in seedling cultivation.”
