[Asia Economy Reporter Kwak Minjae] Yuhan-Kimberly launched the ‘Kleenex Paper Wet Tissue,’ which is made primarily from 100% natural pulp fabric and is biodegradable within 45 days, on the 20th.
This product was developed to meet the demand of customers seeking eco-friendly products, based on FSC-certified pulp produced from sustainable artificial forests certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
According to the ‘2022 Wet Tissue Usage Behavior Survey’ conducted by Kantar this year, consumers prefer wet tissue products made from 100% natural pulp fabric among eco-friendly fabric wet tissues (72%), and 63% of respondents indicated a willingness to pay more for eco-friendly wet tissues compared to regular wet tissues.
Kleenex’s new product uses only 100% natural pulp fabric, preventing the generation of microplastics at the source. It has the advantage of having less environmental impact compared to wet tissues made from conventional polyester fabric. By using FSC-certified pulp extracted from sustainably managed artificial forests, it contributes to forest conservation.
The bundle bag packaging and cap use 30% recycled plastic material, reducing the use of new plastic by more than 30%. The sticker attached to the cap has been removed to reduce plastic usage and to make separation and disposal more convenient.
The person in charge of Kleenex Paper Wet Tissue said, “As social interest in ESG management grows, consumers are increasingly inclined to purchase sustainable products that protect the future environment,” adding, “Through the launch of this Kleenex Paper Wet Tissue, we will strive to meet consumers’ needs for environmentally friendly wet tissue use and to change the market paradigm.”
