Viewing Cheongsong Through the Painter's Eyes... Cheongsong-gun Exhibits 20 Korean Ink Paintings Sketching Juwangsan

Viewing Cheongsong Through the Painter's Eyes... Cheongsong-gun Exhibits 20 Korean Ink Paintings Sketching Juwangsan 'Juwangsan Third Waterfall' artwork presented at the special exhibition commemorating the 3rd anniversary of the passing of artist Lee Won-jwa at Juwangsan.


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] A special exhibition titled "Juwangsan Tour Special Exhibition" commemorating the late Korean painter Yaseong Go (故) Lee Wonjwa will be held.


Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk announced on the 20th that from the 18th until July 17th, it will showcase a total of about 20 works painted by Yaseong, featuring the Juwangsan area, which is his hometown Cheongsong and a place he often visited to sketch.


The county plans to provide an opportunity to tour the famous sites of Cheongsong, which formed the artistic foundation for Yaseong's lifelong dedication to Korean painting, through his works.


Yoon Kyung-hee, the mayor of Cheongsong-gun, said, "I hope this special exhibition will serve as an opportunity to once again reflect on and inherit the artistic spirit of the late painter Lee Wonjwa and his devoted efforts for the development of local culture and arts, leading to the emergence of many outstanding local artists."


Painter Yaseong Lee Wonjwa was born in Pacheon-myeon, Cheongsong-gun, graduated from Jigyeong Elementary School, and after graduating from the Department of Oriental Studies at Hongik University, he worked as a middle school teacher and university professor while passionately engaging in his artistic activities.


He left many works behind, with his representative piece being the large-scale Korean painting "Cheongnyangdae Wundo (46×6.7m)." In 2005, he served as the inaugural director of the Cheongsong Yaseong Art Museum, which opened that year, and until his passing in 2019, he worked hard for the promotion of culture and arts in the Cheongsong area and the development of the Yaseong Art Museum.
